Lab member experiences

Our undergraduate students and teacher partners have reported positive experiences working with the lab. “[the experience] taught me how to conduct independent research. My mentors provided me the tools and support to add structure to my skills doing research. Working virtually allowed me to learn the innovative ways science can be done. “[an] excellent opportunity to experience plant-based biological research with a diverse and welcoming group of professors, post-doctoral candidates, graduate students, and undergraduates alike. Through the program I learned extensively about the scientific research process, how to engage more effectively with research papers, and, of course, about leaves and plants. I would strongly recommend the REU/RET program to anyone interested in scientific research with a desire to learn more about the natural world. the experience reinvigorated my passion for science after 10 years of being in the classroom. The support I received from my mentors and other lab members helped me refresh my technical science skills while building my confidence in creating relevant science curriculum for my students. The lab group is friendly, supportive, and eager to collaborate, and the overall experience is inspiring.
