Last week we wrapped up a spring collaboration with Richmond High School, exploring resilience in plants and in people through art and science. The work was supported by the National Science Foundation through our ‘Rules of Life’ grant on leaf venation networks.
We helped put on a concert performed by the RHS orchestra (with a wonderful student cello soloist, Adeline Vargas). The orchestra performed the Resilience Concertino which we just commissioned from composer Marcus Norris, who came up from Los Angeles for the premiere and guest-conducted the orchestra. We also had visual art from Dr. Juniper Harrower on display.
Check out some photos below!
We also spent a week working with a high school classroom to explore biological transportation networks. A number of students and staff on our team got to bring some of our research work to the classroom for a multi-day inquiry project.
